A really solid traditional vertical STG from Qute with an incredible soundtrack by Yousuke Yasui. Includes "Original" and "Advanced" modes with multiple difficulties for both. Definitely worth picking up. Wonder pack includes JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD, which is also neat as heck so go for it. Eschatos (meaning "Ultimate" in Greek) is a very polished shmup, with simple, yet addictive gameplay, rad music and three game modes to try, with online leaderboards. Multiple difficulty settings make this game suitable for newcomers and veterans alike. Your mission is rather clear. Fly towards the moon, where an alien source resides and terminate the threat before it eradicates our planet. Your ship is equipped with two weapons, a low velocity spread gun and a higher velocity forward laser. In the thick of the battle you will find your ship's shield extra useful too, as it absorbs most of the enemy projectiles, at the cost of energy and can also be used to ram small fliers. Very cool game, although it doesn't have that Crimzon Clover feel, it does shine on its own. Thumbs up!. ESCHATOS may very well be the best shmup made in the past five years. Despite a small library, Qute is already a powerhouse in the genre and manages to stand next to some of the best (i.e. Cave). Having played the 360 version, Degica did this release right and things feel as smooth as ever. Gameplay is still amazing, controls are tight, and the soundtrack really puts it over the top. With this release, ESCHATOS easily becomes the best shmup on Steam and deserves your time.. It has a distinctive flavor: It prioritizes explosive energy, the feel of an adventure and enemy aggression and a stellar complementing soundtrack over fidelity to enemy designs and backgrounds. Just screenshots will not make the presentation's strengths apparent, it must be seen and heard in motion.Another divisive factor is how the game's design philosophy pushes its ideas to the extreme, like with the wild camera movement and the wildly varying enemy formations, randomized per-formation. Personally, I feel there's only one part where the game goes to kind of rough lenghts with one of these ideas, but overall, this unreserved attitude makes for the most pure and fun shoot 'em ups I've ever played in my life.Good set of difficulty modes and more continues unlock as you play, so quite accessible too.. One of the best, if not the best shmups on Steam. Probably the best vertical shmup made in the last 5-10 years.BUY IT.
